Embroidery size questions
The quickest way to see what it does with your artwork is to try it. With a free account, digitizing and previewing cost nothing and take about a minute.
What is the standard size for embroidery?
It depends on where it goes: about 3–4 in wide for a left chest logo, 4–5 in wide and up to 2.25 in tall on a cap front, 10–12 in wide for a full back, and 2.5–3.5 in on a sleeve.
What is the most common embroidery size?
The left chest logo, about 3.5 in (90 mm) wide, is the most common size in business embroidery. On home machines, designs that fit a 4×4 in (100×100 mm) or 5×7 in hoop are the most common.
What's the biggest embroidery design I can sew?
Your hoop sets the limit. Home machines usually go up to 6×10 or 8×12 in; larger designs are split into sections and sewn in several hoopings.
Should I resize a file or digitize at the final size?
Digitize at the final size when you can. Resizing an existing file more than about 10–20% changes the stitch density; digitizing again recalculates it.
