What is cap frame in embroidery?

A curved frame that holds the front of a cap under the needle, mounted on a cap driver on commercial multi-needle machines.

Cap frame, explained

The cap driver turns the curved front as it sews, and a structured cap usually has a usable height of only about 2–2.25 in (50–57 mm). Some home machines offer a flatter cap frame accessory with a small sewing field. Caps sew best from the center out and the bottom up; Embrizo plans its sewing order to cut trims rather than for caps, so cap-specific sequencing is a specialist job.
