Embroidery machine finder

Three questions about what you'll embroider, and the machines that fit it best, matched on real specs: field size, single or multi-needle, sewing, Wi-Fi and built-in designs.

1. What will you embroider most?

2. Do you want to sew and quilt on it too?

3. Nice to have

Matched on the makers' published specs (field size, type, Wi-Fi, built-in designs). Check current prices and availability with a dealer.

The largest design each machine sews in one hooping.

  • Machine type

Embroidery only, sewing and embroidery, or multi-needle.

  • Wi-Fi

  • Built-in designs

How many designs come on the machine.

  • Smallest that fits

Ties go to the simpler machine that still does the job.

  • File format

Each pick shows the format to save your designs in.

Before you buy

Check these too

  • Ask the dealer which hoops come in the box and what extra hoops cost.
  • Check the largest field, not just the hoop name.
  • Look for USB or Wi-Fi transfer that suits how you work.
  • Try a test sew-out of your own design at the dealer if you can.

Which embroidery machine should I buy?

Start from what you'll make. Names and small gifts fit a 4x4 field; shirts, totes and towels need about 5x7; jacket backs and quilts need 8x12 or bigger; orders for customers and caps are easier on a multi-needle machine. The finder matches those needs to real models' specs.

What hoop size do I need?

A 5x7 (130 × 180 mm) field covers most home projects, including left chest logos and towels. 4x4 suits small monograms; 8x12 and larger suits jacket backs.

Single-needle or multi-needle?

Single-needle machines are simpler and cost less but need rethreading for every color. Multi-needle machines hold several colors, sew caps on a cap frame and suit businesses.

Do I need Wi-Fi?

No, but it saves trips with a USB stick. Many newer models send designs over Wi-Fi.

Will Embrizo files work on my machine?

Yes. Embrizo saves PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX and more, so whichever machine you pick, you can digitize your own designs for it.
